The media tour as well as the State Dinner took place on July 7, 1976. The tour included a preview of the temporary tent erected in the Rose Garden for the dinner and the tables and decor set up inside. Queen Elizabeth and her husband, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, visited the United States from July 6 to 11 in celebration of the American Bicentennial. During their six day trip, they visited eight American cities, starting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
